One of the nice things about art clubs is meeting people with whom you have common interests. Several months back I met an artist named Laura Wambsgans at a California Art Club Reception. She lives in Santa Clarita. We chatted then emailed and she invited me to join her and the members of her club for one of their monthly paint outs. Paint outs are a fun way to practice, see other artists' view of the same scene, and analyse the way they depict it. We met again today up in Canyon Country near the new campus of The College Of The Canyons. Laura's group was there as was my friend, Sharon. We all painted from about the same area and our paintings were totally different.

After all of us had wrapped it up and when we began to pack up, we placed our paintings around the tiny amphitheater and began to discuss the positives of the various paintings and we even made some suggestions for making them better. This was a good learning process. We were careful with our words ... as always, some of the paintings seemed much more "professional" than others, but we recognized that we are all on the same journey to try to make our work better while enjoying the process. It was another good day.
