A Window At Sequit Point

"Window At Sequit Point" is a 9 by 12 oil on panel that captures a moment along the rugged coastline at Leo Carrillo State Beach. This piece focuses on the interplay between the restless water and the solid, weathered rocks. The waves surge with shades of green and blue, their movement conveyed through thick, expressive brushstrokes that bring energy to the scene. The rocks are layered in earthy browns and grays, with touches of green suggesting moss and algae clinging to their surfaces. What I’ve aimed for here is a sense of the shoreline’s raw, untamed spirit—the way natural forces continuously shape and reshape this landscape. The keyhole view I chose is a perspective I return to often, one that feels both intimate and expansive in revealing the dynamic edge between land and sea. This spot has long been one of my favorite places to paint, and this work reflects that ongoing connection.
