Patience

Several years ago I painted a larger version of this beautiful bird.  That painting sold from the first show it was in and I was thrilled.  Of course, since then, I've enjoyed a number of exciting encounters with egrets and herons.  They are such elegant and majestic birds.

I enjoyed the play of light across the marshland grasses and the way the brilliant white of the great egret almost glowed in contrast to the grassy background as it waited patiently for its next meal.
