The Los Angeles Chapter of the California Art Club is led by artist, Chuck Kovacic.  He arranges places to paint each month and if I'm available I'll try to join the group.  Too often I can't.
For this paint-out, I was free and although I knew where the location was, I had only driven past it -- never stopped to paint it.  While driving past, I've often seen people practicing their rock climbing skills.

I was captivated by the shadow shapes and the rocks and tried to capture their rhythm.  I also learned that these distinctive flowers are called datura and are were at some point used as a psychedelic by daring young people in days gone by - often with deadly results.  They are also known as jimsonweed, devil's trumpets, devil's weed or mad apple.  They are poisonous and are from the family of the nightshade.
